Trophies are souvenirs of victories. The most common trophies are awarded for sporting achievements. A trophy is an object of great admiration and idolization. Whether it is a school race or an Olympic medal, a trophy is much coveted.

Trophies are made of different materials. Gold and silver are the costly, highly sought after metals. But other metals like pewter and steel and crystal are also common.

Shapes are also very different catering to the different requirements. A wrestler is seen in a wrestling trophy, a football player in a football trophy, a golfer in action in a golf trophy and a baseball player in a baseball trophy.

In baseball, international tourneys include World Baseball Classic and the Olympics baseball tournament.

American football is played at different levels, like the National Football League, College football, Arena football League, Mexican College Football and Canadian Football League Most wrestling is amateur, but some forms, like Sumo, are professional. The most widespread form is amateur wrestling. It consists of two styles-Collegiate and Freestyle. Professional wrestling is led by a wrestling tournament under the World Wrestling Federation.

In addition to sports, trophies are awarded to police officers, firefighters and other active duty government officials for achievements of exceptional valor and courage. These include traditional cup-shaped trophies, plaques and even bobble-head images of officers as trophies.
